LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis men's tennis team returns to action this weekend at the Rocket Invitational, hosted by the University of Toledo. The invitational, which starts on Friday, September 30, and ends on Saturday, October 1, will follow a hidden-dual format.
On Friday, the Red Flash will compete against Case Western University at 1:30 p.m. and Toledo at 8 p.m. On Saturday, SFU wraps up the invitational against Youngstown State at 5 p.m. and Wayne State at 8 p.m.
Saint Francis will play in its third tournament of the Fall this weekend after competing in the Bucknell Invitational and the Greater Cincinnati Invitational.
Senior
Plamen Avuski (Plovdiv, Bulgaria /Math High School ) and freshman
Arturo Dell'eva (Verona, Italy/Sanchez Casal Tennis Academy) lead the team with 5-1 records in singles. Avuski reached the final of his draw at the GCI, while Dell'eva won his draw at the Bucknell Invitational.
Freshman
Franz Luna (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Laurel Springs) owns a 4-2 record, with two wins in each tournament, while senior
Eli Cerdan (Bloomfield, N.J. /Saint Mary High School) and sophomore
Jan Vit Suntar (Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Slovenia/Gimnazija Kranj) each have two victories. Junior
Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)) has one win.
In doubles, Cerdan and Luna paired up to win their doubles draw at the Greater Cincinnati Invitational, going 3-0 on the weekend. Cerdan also paired with Dell'eva at the Bucknell Invitational to win the doubles draw there.
The pairs of Avuski and Dell'eva and Foo-Kune and Suntar each have one victory.
