LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis swimming team, led by Head Coach
Rory Coleman, makes its 2016-17 season debut on Saturday when it visits the University of Delaware. The Red Flash will compete in a 1 p.m. meet against the Blue Hens and Georgetown.

Saint Francis is coming off a 2015-16 campaign, when it went 8-7 and finished fourth at the Northeast Conference Championships. The Red Flash returns 16 members from last year's squad. The team added 11 newcomers.Â

The returning members include junior
Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen), who won the 500-yard Freestyle at the NEC Championships, with a school-record time of 4:53.19. She added a second place finish in the 200-yard Freestyle, with a school-best time of 1:50.00, and a third place finish in the 100-yard Freestyle, with a career-best time of 51.00. Lafferty was a four-time NEC Swimmer of the Week selection last year.

Sophomore
Jessica Crumm (New Hampton, N.Y./Minisink Valley) earned Top 10 finishes at the NEC Championships in the 100-yard Breaststroke (8th, 1:04.65) and 200-yard Breaststroke (8th, 2:25.28). Senior
Paige McLean (Bolton, Ontario/St. Michael Catholic Secondary) also had a pair of Top 10 finishes in the 1,650-yard Freestyle (5th, 17:34.94) and 400-yard IM (7th, 4:34.04).Â

Alicia Tiberino (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) and sophomore
Rory O'Dell (Chapel Hill, N.C./Northwood) each had a pair of Top 10 finishes in the conference championships. Tiberino placed sixth in the 100-yard Butterfly (56.28) and 10th in the 50-yard Freestyle (52.48), while O'Dell finished eighth in the 200-yard Butterfly (2:08.09) and 10th in the 400-yard IM (4:34.91).Â

Lafferty and Tiberino return from a 200-yard Freestyle Relay team that finished second at the NEC Championships, with a school-record time of 1:34.00.Â
