Santa Barbara, Calif.- Saint Francis women's soccer travels to Southern California this weekend for matches against UC-Santa Barbara and Loyola Marymount.
ABOUT THE FLASH
Saint Francis is coming off a big win over Marylan-Baltimore County (UMBC) on Sunday, earning a 1-0 win.
Sara Suler (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) scored the match's only goal and her game winner earned her Northeast Conference Player of the Week Honors.
Julia Hernan (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) made 10 saves over two matches including her first win/shutout on Sunday and earned NEC Defender of the Week honors as well. The Flash are looking for redemption after a 3-2 setback to UC-Santa Barbara in Loretto last season. The Flash last played Loyola Marymount in 2006.
ABOUT THE GAUCHOS
Santa Barbara comes into the match riding a five-match win streak after sweeping Pitt (4-0) and Utah State (1-0) last weekend. They have risen to #6 in the West regional rankings as a result of the hot start. Amanda Ball leads the offense, she has won the Big West Player of the Week twice in the first three weeks of play and scored twice in the win over Pitt and has six goals on the year. Brittney Rogers has gotten five starts in goal and has been perfect in net, she has not conceded a goal in 17 shots so far this year.
ABOUT THE LIONS
Loyola Marymount went on a magical run to the sweet 16 last season. They are off to a 3-1-1 start this season and have been in and out of the top-25. Last weekend, LMU defeated Long Beach State on the road and Ball State at home. It has been a group effort offensively with nine players accounting for their 12 goals on the season. Defensively Charlee Pruitt has gotten the starts in net and owns a 1.41 goals against average and a .750 save percentage.
