Loretto, Pa. –
The Saint Francis women's soccer team (9-7-2, 6-1-1 NEC) heads to Teaneck, New Jersey with aspirations of repeating as NEC champions. The Red Flash will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament and take on third-seeded CCSUĀ on Fri., Nov. 3, at 2 p.m.

The Blue Devils handed Saint Francis its only conference loss as Jenna Rae Covello scored with 1:15 to play in double overtime for the match's only goal. The second of Friday's two semifinal games will be a rematch of last year's NEC Final won by the Red Flash 2-0. CCSU owns the top overall win percentage in the conference (.588%) with a 10-7 record and 6-2 record in NEC action. The Blue Devils have allowed just 13 goals in 17 matches and own the second-best goals against average (0.76) in the conference. Goalkeeper Ashley Cavanaugh leads the league with nine clean sheets. Danielle Pearse leads the team with four goals and two assists followed by Covello with four goals and one helper.

Same Ol' Song
Ā
Saint Francis is in familiar territory as it will be its eighth consecutive appearance in the NEC Postseason. The Red Flash captured the titles in 2010, 2013 and 2016 and own an 8-7 record in the NEC Tournament.

Another Regular-Season Title

The Red Flash shared the NEC regular-season title with FDU thanks to its 6-1-1 conference record. The title is the program's fifth as it accomplished the feat in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2016. Unfortunately, Saint Francis narrowly missed out on hosting privileges as FDU owned the tiebreaker due to a 1-0 record against third-place CCSU.

Golden Boot
Ā
For the second consecutive season the NEC Golden Boot Award winner hails from Loretto. Gabi Morales (Madrid, Spain/Colegio La Inmaculada-Marillac) won the award in 2016 and sophomore Alyssa McGhee (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) captures the title in 2017 after scoring 10 goals and recording nine assists. She narrowly bested Robert Morris's Kristina Kelley and Fairleigh Dickinson's Sofia Albertsson who each scored nine. McGhee scored two goals over the final five minutes in SFU's 5-0 win at LIU Brooklyn on Sunday to win the title.
