Men's Tennis Finishes Home Schedule Against FDU, Duquesne

LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Men's Tennis Team wraps up its home schedule with two matches this weekend.  The Red Flash takes on NEC foe Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday, April 1, at 5:30 p.m. at the Greensburg Racquet Club.  On Sunday, Saint Francis meets Duquesne for a 1 p.m. match at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Club in Pittsburgh.
 
Saint Francis will celebrated Senior Day during Saturday's match as it recognizes the careers of Plamen Avuski (Plovdiv, Bulgaria /Math High School ), Eli Cerdan (Bloomfield, N.J. /Saint Mary High School) and Rodrigo Tico (Guadalajara, Mexico/Colegio de Bachilleres).  The group has helped the Red Flash to 43 wins over the last four years, the most in any four-year span in program history.  SFU is 43-29 over the last four years, including 11-1 in NEC matches.  The group has helped SFU to an NEC Championship appearance and three NEC Semifinals appearances. 
 
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach Rob Castille, is 11-3 overall and 3-0 in NEC play this season.  Saint Francis is currently riding a five-match win streak and is off to its best start in program history.  SFU earned a 6-1 win at Sacred Heart last Friday.
 
Freshman Franz Luna (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Laurel Springs) and sophomore Jan Vit Suntar (Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Slovenia/Gimnazija Kranj) share the team-lead with 11 wins this Spring.  Luna is 11-2, while playing all of his matches at No. 2.  Suntar owns an 11-1 mark, while playing matches at No. 4, 5 and 6. 
 
Avuski and junior Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)) each have 10 dual-match wins.  Avuski is 10-2, playing at the No. 3, 4 and 5 positions, while Foo-Kune is 10-4 at No. 1.  Freshman Arturo Dell'eva (Verona, Italy/Sanchez Casal Tennis Academy) is 8-2, playing at No. 2, 3 and 4, while Cerdan is 7-3, playing at No. 5 and 6.  Tico has six wins, with three each coming at the No. 3 and 4 positions.
 
Foo-Kune and Tico have combined for a 7-4 record at No. 1, while Dell'eva and Suntar are 5-2 at No. 2.  Avuski and Cerdan are 8-0 at No. 3.
 
Fairleigh Dickinson is 3-8 overall and makes its NEC debut this weekend.  The Knights own wins over NYIT (5-0), Hofstra (4-3) and Colgate (5-2).  FDU is looking to snap a six-match skid. 
 
Duquesne is 6-9 overall, with wins against Carnegie Mellon (5-2), Saint Joseph's (5-2), Mercyhurst (7-0), Bucknell (7-0), Norfolk State (7-0) and St. Bonaventure (4-3).  Last weekend, the Dukes fell 4-3 at James Madison.  Duquesne meets Louisville on Friday before taking on SFU on Sunday.
