Loretto, Pa. – The Saint Francis lacrosse team (5-4) opens conference play at Wagner on Friday, Apr. 7, before returning to Loretto to host Mount St. Mary's on Sunday, Apr. 9, at 1 p.m.

The Red Flash open conference play against the defending NEC champion Wagner Seahawks on Friday in Staten Island. The Seahawks entered the 2016 NEC Tournament as the no. 2 seed before rolling to the title with a 17-7 win over Robert Morris and an 11-7 win over Bryant in the final . The Red Flash can't overlook Wagner's 2-8 record as the Seahawks were 2-7 entering conference play in 2016 before winning eight of their next nine games, including a 15-11 win over Saint Francis. Â Sophomore Anna Belle Reilly leads the Seahawks with 21 goals and 30 points. Junior Heidi Colford is tops on the team with 14 assists to go along with 12 goals. Transfer Marjorie Dehm and junior Lauren Ednie have 19 and 18 goals, respectively.

Scouting Mount St. Mary's

Mount St. Mary's enters the week 1-7 with its only win coming over Radford. The Mountaineers have only exceeded 11 goals once in eight games and are averaging 5.5 goals per game over its last two contests. Senior captain Sammie Knapp, a second team all-league selection last season, leads the team with 19 goals and 25 points. Freshman Carly Miller leads the team with 10 assists and is second on the team with 21 points. The Mountaineers have won all 14 meeting vs. the Red Flash, the last one a 12-4 victory last season.

Mahon Wins Player of the Week

Sarah Mahon (Malverne, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) is coming off a career week, which saw her score 11 goals in two games in California, including a seven goal, two assist performance in a win at Saint Mary's. Mahon's nine points tied the SFU single-game scoring record and helped her claim her second Player of the Week of her career. The Red Flash has taken home five of the first seven conference Player of the Week's. Senior midfielder

Speaking of Lawrence, she scored her 100th career goal at Fresno State to become just the third player in Saint Francis history to reach the milestone. She ranks 5th in the NCAA and first in the NEC in goals per game at 3.78 and has scored three goals or more in six of nine games, including five of the last six. Lawrence is just 16 goals shy of surpassing the single-season school record of 49 goals set by Danielle Conwell in 2012.

Heather McKee (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright Bel Air) had a career-high 16 saves in Saint Francis's win at Saint Mary's, 10 of which came in the second half. McKee is averaging 9.75 saves per game over her last four outings, raising her save pct. from .314 to .377.

If the Red Flash can sweep Wagner and Mount St. Mary's this weekend it will set the school record for wins in a season with seven. Saint Francis has already surpasses its win total from all of last season of four. The record six wins occurred in the 2010 season.
