Loretto, Pa. - Current member of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Shane Campbell has joined the Saint Francis men's soccer staff as an assistant coach for the 2017 season.
Campbell arrived at the Riverhounds this season after spending his rookie season with the Harrisburg City Islanders. Unfortunately his season was cut short due to injury.
"I am excited to have Shane join our program," said head coach
Antony Moore. "His pedigree as a player speaks volumes. He will be a good resource for our players as the season progresses."
Campbell's collegiate career consisted of two seasons at Penn State before he transferred to the University of Louisville for his junior and senior seasons. The defender recorded two goals and two assists during his stint with Louisville after scoring two goals in his two seasons at Penn State.
"I am extremely grateful for this opportunity that Antony and Saint Francis has provided me with." said Campbell. "Having the chance to gain coaching experience at this level with such a talented group was something that I couldn't pass up. I hope to push the guys to reach their fullest potential and achieve their team and individual goals this season."
The York, Pennsylvania native had a successful career at Dallastown Area High School where he was a three-time York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) All-County selection and named All-State in 2011. Campbell helped his team to three YAIAA Division I Championships, two YAIAA County Championships and one District 3 Championship.
