LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Women's Tennis team is set to compete at the Bucknell Fall Invite this weekend. The invite begins on Friday, September 8 and concludes on Sunday.
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach
Rob Castille, will compete against players from Bucknell, Howard, IUP, Lafayette, Loyola (Md.) and Mount St. Mary's.
SFU returns junior
Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School), sophomore
Kathryn Dunleavy (Farmington Hills, Mich./Mercy), sophomore
Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN), junior
Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) and sophomore
Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) from last year's team, which reached the NEC Semifinals for the third straight year.
Miller led SFU with 16 singles wins last year and added 11 doubles wins. Seigford had 15 singles and 11 doubles victories, while Bode and Gutierrez each had 14 singles wins and 10 doubles wins. Dunleavy had 13 singles wins in 2016-17 and six doubles victories.
The Red Flash adds freshman
Nastasia Tamarkin (Washington, D.C./School Without Walls) to the team. She was the top ranked player in her class out of Washington D.C. and was a three-star prospect by TennisRecruiting.net. Tamarkin played No. 1 her entire career at School Without Walls H.S. and never lost a match.
