Women's Tennis Welcomes Wright State On Sunday

LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Women's Tennis team will make its home debut on Sunday against Wright State.  The Red Flash and the Raiders are set for an 8 a.m. start at The Club Sport and Health in Monroeville.
 
Saint Francis, led by Head Coach Rob Castille, is looking for its first win of the year after an 0-2 start last weekend.  The Red Flash fell 7-0 at Navy and James Madison in matches against solid opponents.
 
Sophomore Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) and freshman Nastasia Tamarkin (Washington, D.C./School Without Walls) earned a 7-6(6) win at No. 1 doubles against Navy's Aimee Dervishian and Danika Kahatapitiya on Saturday.
 
Gutierrez leads the Red Flash with five overall wins this season.  Junior Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) is right behind with a 4-4 mark, while sophomore Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) and Tamarkin each own one victory.
 
In doubles, Gutierrez and Tamarkin have a 6-4 overall record, including 1-1 at No. 1.  Bode and Seigford and Miller and Seigford split time at No. 2 doubles last weekend.
 
Wright State, led by Head Coach Eric Burns, is 0-2 after dropping a 7-0 decision at Louisville and a 6-1 result at Cincinnati last Saturday.  The Raiders will take on Miami Ohio on Friday before meeting the Red Flash on Sunday.  Freshman Jillian Milano earned a win at No. 5 singles, while freshman Luisa Pelayo and sophomore Madison Riley picked up a 7-6 victory at No. 3 doubles against Cincinnati. Milano leads the squad with six overall wins, while Karoline Haller has two overall wins and played at No. 1 last weekend.
