Hamden, CT – The Quinnipiac Bobcats used an early 5-0 run in the first half to defeat the Saint Francis women's lacrosse team (0-2) 15-8 on Saturday.

Mazzur Making Plays

Senior Midfielder Jessica Mazzur (Dallastown, Pa./York Catholic) had an outstanding game scoring five goals on six shots. She also collected two ground balls and caused a turnover on the defensive end.

Turning Point

The Red Flash answered Quinnipiac's early first half goal with one of its own to even things out. The Bobcats then proceeded to go on a 5-0 scoring run allowing the Bobcat's to take a 6-2 advantage into the half. For most of the second half, the two schools exchanged goals, but the Bobcats closed the game scoring three goals in the final fifteen minutes.

• Freshman midfielder Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) continues to impress for the Red Flash scoring two goals and winning 11 draw controls.

• Sophomore Livia Baker (Fallston, Md./Fallston High School) recorded her second goal of the season and picked up a ground ball.

• Sophomore Peyton LeConte (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls.

• Junior goalkeeper Ashley Stoessel (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) stopped 13 of the 28 shots she faced.

• Quinnipiac held a 34-26 advantage in shots.

• The Bobcats picked up 12 more ground balls than the Red Flash

• Saint Francis won the draw control battle 16-9.

• The Red Flash prevented the Bobcats from taking any free-position shots. SFU took eight to QU zero.
