BOX SCORE Loretto, Pa. - The Saint Francis lacrosse team (4-3) won its third straight game on Saturday with a 12-7 win over East Carolina. Senior
Jessica Fischetti (Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) led the onslaught with three goals, while Saint Francis freshmen accounted for five goals.
Concheck's Reaction
"It feels really good to get this one," said head coach
Kara Concheck. "One thing we have talked about recently is our response when our opponents score a goal and today I thought we answered the call every time they started to make a run at us. We also did a good job playing with the lead and limiting their chances. We only had four second-half turnovers which is a big positive."
Turning Point
The Saint Francis smothering defense was the difference in this one. The Red Flash surrendered just one goal over the opening 21 minutes to build a 5-1 lead. The Pirates made it a 5-2 game before freshmen
Paige Brady (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner Archbishop Prendergast Catholic ) and
Shea Moran (Windermere, Fla./West Orange) answered with goals. The Red Flash led 7-3 at the half and increased its lead to 9-3 after junior
Morgan Day (New Park, Pa./Kennard Dale) scored the first two goals of the second half.
