Loretto, Pa. -
The Saint Francis lacrosse team (3-3) tries to extend its win streak to three when it hosts East Carolina on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Scouting East Carolina

The Pirates have pieced together a competitive team in its first season as a Division I affiliated lacrosse program. East Carolina is 1-7 through its first eight games with its first-ever win coming vs. Gardner-Webb on Feb.18. Freshmen Ally Stanton and Nicole Legar are the team's leading scorers. Stanton leads the way with 15 goals and an assist and Legar has 12 goals. Sophomore Emma Bowman is the team's top playmaker with seven goals and six assists. Two of ECU's last three losses have been by three goals or less.

MAZZUR NAMED NEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Senior captain Jessica Mazzur (Dallastown, Pa./York Catholic) is playing the best lacrosse of her career through the first six games of the season. Mazzur recorded just one five-goal game through her first three seasons but has three in her last five games. She leads the team with 22 goals and 30 points. The 22 goals surpass her total from last season and is just one shy of her career-high, which she set as a sophomore. Mazzur was rewarded for her efforts last week with her first career NEC of the Week nod.

100-CLUB FOR FISCHETTI

Senior forward Jessica Fischetti (Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) became the ninth player in school history to reach 100 career points after her two-goal, two-assist performance in a win at Gardner-Webb on Tuesday. Fischetti joins senior teammates Jess Mazzur and Sarah Mahon (Malverne, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) as three of the nine to reach the 100-point milestone. Fischetti ranks t-7 in school history with 68 career goals as she continues with her senior season.

STOESSEL STEPPING UP

Junior goalie Ashley Stoessel (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) is elevating her play in her first full-season as the starter between the pipes. Stoessel came into the season with a career-high of eight saves, but has posted double-digit saves in four of her five starts this season. She sits at 3-2 with a .513 save % and has made 59 total stops.
