LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Men's Tennis team concludes the regular season this weekend with two matches in Pittsburgh. The Red Flash meets St. Bonaventure on Friday for a 2 p.m. match at The Club Sport and Health in Monroeville. Saint Francis battles Duquesne on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center.
On Senior Day, Saint Francis will honor
Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)). The senior is a three-time All-NEC selection in singles and earned First Team All-NEC honors at No. 1 doubles in 2016. He owns a 49-37 career mark in singles and has 42 career doubles wins.
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach
Rob Castille, are 6-11 overall and finished the NEC regular season with a 4-1 mark in conference play. Last weekend, the Red Flash fell 6-1 at George Washington, but defeated Mount St. Mary's, 5-2.
Junior
Jan Vit Suntar (Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Slovenia/Gimnazija Kranj) earned two wins this weekend, playing both of his matches at No. 6. Sophomore
Franz Luna (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Laurel Springs) and freshman
Sebastian Pinos (Quito, Ecuador/Compuinformatica) won two matches at No. 3 doubles. Luna and PInos are 10-7 in dual matches.
Against Mount St. Mary's, Foo-Kune picked up a win at No. 2, while
Charles Morkel (Cape Town, South Africa/Paul Roos Gymnasium) won at No. 3 and Pinos won his match at No. 4.
Eduardo Garcia (Toluca, Mexico/Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Mexico) collected a win at No. 5.
Foo-Kune leads the team with a 10-6 singles record this Spring, while Luna and Pinos are both 8-9 in singles. Garcia and Morkel each have four wins, while Suntar is 3-2 at No. 6.
St. Bonaventure is 3-14 overall and 1-3 against Atlantic 10 opponents. The Bonnies knocked off Niagara, 5-2, last Friday. Hector Martinez leads the team with nine wins this Spring, with eight coming at No. 2. Victor Blanco has five wins at No. 1. Blanco and Lukas Malmberg have five victories at No. 1 doubles.
Duquesne is 9-6 overall and 2-2 in Atlantic 10 play. Last weekend, the Dukes defeated Radford, 4-3. Duquesne plays St. Bonaventure on Saturday before battling SFU on Sunday. Jared Isaacs leads the team with a 12-3 record, playing most of his matches at No. 4 and 5. Adam Blasinsky has an 8-7 record at No. 1. Isaacs and Tim Kane are 7-0 at No. 3 doubles.
