BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Saint Francis Softball team scored a combined 31 runs and tallied 32 hits in a doubleheader sweep over LIU Brooklyn on Sunday.  The Red Flash earned a 9-0, six-inning win in game one and exploded at the plate for a 22-4 win in game two.  The Red Flash is now 24-17 overall and 6-0 in NEC play, while LIU Brooklyn dropped to 15-22 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
 
With the sweep, Saint Francis extended its NEC win streak to 25 games.  It is currently the longest conference win streak in Division I.
 
Saint Francis' 22 runs in game two are a program record, topping a 21-1 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore in 1995.  The 22 runs are tied for the fifth-most in a Division I game this season.
 
The 22 runs are the most scored in an NEC game since Bryant scored 26 against Wagner in 2011.
 
The 31 runs in the doubleheader is just one run short of SFU's doubleheader runs record of 32 vs. Seton Hill in 1988. 
 
SFU's 17 hits in game two were the program's most since 17 against Detroit Mercy on March 3, 2009.
 
In the doubleheader, Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) and Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) each had six hits, with Madison Cabell (Ivor, Va./Southampton) and Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) each collecting five knocks. Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) had two homers and seven RBI, while Cabell drove in six runs, including a grand slam.
 
Abby Trahan (Kaplan, La./Kaplan) earned the win in both games, allowing just one run in 11 innings.  She now has 18 wins this season, one behind the SFU season wins record, set by Ethel Santai (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove Area) in 2017.
 
The Red Flash visits Penn State on Wednesday, April 18 for a 5 p.m. doubleheader at Beard Field.  Saint Francis continues NEC play next weekend, hosting doubleheaders against Central Connecticut State and Bryant.  The Red Flash takes on CCSU on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Bryant on Sunday at 12 p.m.
 
Game 1
Sophomore Abby Trahan (Kaplan, La./Kaplan) fired a complete-game shutout for her 17th win of the season.  Trahan allowed six hits and just one walk, while striking out two. 
 
LIU Brooklyn started senior Erynn Sobieski in the circle.  She threw all six innings, giving up nine runs, six earned, on 15 hits. She struck out three and walked four batters.
 
Saint Francis tallied nine runs on 15 hits.  Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) collected two hits, including a two-run homer, and scored two runs.  Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) went three-for-four with a triple and a run, while Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) drove in two runs on two hits, including a double.  Madison Cabell (Ivor, Va./Southampton) had two hits, a run and an RBI and Kassidy Troxell (Navarre, Ohio/Perry) was three-for-four with an RBI double.  Taylor Hoover (Phillipsburg, Ohio/Northmont) drove in two runs on a double.
 
The Blackbirds had six hits.  Angie Vazquez tallied three hits, while Nereyda Gutierrez had two.  Katie Hinkle added a single.
 
The Red Flash took a one-run lead in the first inning.  Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) started the game with a line-drive single to right.  Norton followed with a single up the middle before Cabell drew a walk to load the bases.  Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) blooped a hit into left to drive in Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) from third.
 
Saint Francis added a run in the third inning.  Cabell sent the second pitch of the inning off the wall in center for a leadoff double.  Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) followed with a double off the wall in left to bring home Cabell and extend SFU's lead to 2-0.
 
A homer by Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) in the fourth inning extended SFU's lead to 4-0.  After an infield single by Troxell to start the inning, McKee launched a ball over the wall in left for a two-run shot.  It was McKee's second of the season.
 
The Red Flash drove in another run in the fifth inning.  Following a one-out walk by Seneca, Troxell hit a double to the right field corner to allow Seneca to score from first and extend SFU's advantage to 5-0.
 
Saint Francis plated four runs in the sixth inning.  Norton crushed a one-out triple to the wall in right center before a single through the right side by Cabell drove in Norton.  Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) then reached base as her fly ball to center was dropped. Seneca followed with a single to left to drive in pinch-runner MeKenzie Saban (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills).  A double to the wall in left by Hoover allowed Mikayla Bower (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) and Seneca to score. The Red Flash held a 9-0 lead going to the bottom half of the inning.
 
Game 2
Abby Trahan (Kaplan, La./Kaplan) picked up her 18th win of the season.  She threw five innings, allowing a run on four hits, while striking out one and walking three.  Adrian Smith (Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) started the game and pitched to three batters before Trahan entered.
 
Haley Irvis started for the Blackbirds.  In five innings, she gave up 19 runs, 15 earned, on 17 hits. She struck out five and walked nine.  Victoria Lowe faced three batters, walking all three.
 
Saint Francis collected a program-record 22 runs on 17 hits.  Madison Cabell (Ivor, Va./Southampton) had three hits, including a grand slam, and five RBI to lead the Red Flash.  Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) went three-for-four, with a triple and a homer, five RBI and four runs.  Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) went four-for-four with an RBI and three runs, while Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) was three-for-three with three RBI and two runs. Mikayla Bower (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) added a three-run homer.
 
LIU Brooklyn scored four runs on five hits.  Angie Vazquez had a hit and two RBI, while Victoria Zamora drove in a run.  Kiana Cisneros and Patricia Griffin each had a hit and a run.
 
The Red Flash jumped out to a three-run lead in the first inning on a homer by Bower.  The inning began with back-to-back singles by Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) and Norton.  On a two-out single by Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois), her sister was thrown out at home to save a run.  However, Bower followed by blasting a pitch over the wall in center for a three-run dinger. It was Bower's seventh of the season.
 
The Blackbirds tied the game in the bottom of the first.  After two walks and a single to start the inning, Zamora sent a single to left to score Katie Hinkle from third.  Vazquez drove in two more runs on a single by Vazquez, which plated Cisneros and Griffin.
 
Saint Francis re-took the lead in the second on a solo homer by Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois).  The junior crushed a ball over the wall in left for her third of the season.
 
The Red Flash scored three runs in the third.  Singles by Taylor Hoover (Phillipsburg, Ohio/Northmont) and Jordan Frank (DuBois, Pa./DuBois Central Catholic) and a fielder's choice, reaching on an error, by Troxell set up a two-run single by Norton, with Frank and pinch-runner Ashley Sheetz (Hampton Township, Pa./Hampton) scoring. Cabell singled to left to drive in Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) to extend the SFU lead to 7-3.
 
Saint Francis drove in seven runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a grand slam by Cabell.  Five walks and a hit-by-pitch allowed three runs to score on bases.  Cabell sent a moon shot over the wall in left for a grand slam, the second grand slam of her career.  The Red Flash led 14-3 after four innings.
 
The Red Flash added eight runs in the fifth inning.  Troxell reached on an error to plate Jordan Seneca (Plum, Pa./Plum) before a bases-clearing triple by Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) to drive in MeKenzie Saban (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), Troxell and Frank.  A single by Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) drove in Cheyenne before three bases-loaded walks drove in three runs to extend the SFU lead to 22-4.
