BOX SCORE New Britain, CT. - The Saint Francis lacrosse team (5-9, 1-3 NEC) picked up its first conference victory of the season with a win over CCSU 15-13 on Friday. Junior midfielder Morgan Day (New Park, Pa./Kennard Dale) led the way with a career-high seven goal performance for the Red Flash.

Turning Point
Saint Francis took a 12-9 lead with 14:25 left to play after back-to-back goals scored by Jessica Mazzur (Dallastown, Pa./York Catholic), but saw its lead slip away after three unanswered CCSU goals over the span of the next nine minutes. With the game tied 12-12, junior Morgan Day (New Park, Pa./Kennard Dale) was able to find the back of the net giving the Red Flash a 13-12 lead with 3:22 remaining in the game. Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and Paige Brady (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner Archbishop Prendergast Catholic ) officially put the game out of reach for the Blue Devils after each scoring a goal and extending the Red Flash lead to three goals in the final two minutes.

Day's seven goal performance creates a three-way tie for second most goals scored in a single-game in program history. Day ties teammate Sarah Mahon (Malverne, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) who scored seven goals against Longwood and former teammate Holly Lawrence (Damascus, Md./Damascus) who scored seven goals against Mount Saint Mary's, both instances happening in 2017.
