Men’s Tennis Set For Two Road Matches

LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Men's Tennis team is on the road for a pair of matches this weekend.  The Red Flash battles George Washington on Friday at 2 p.m. SFU continues NEC play on Saturday with a 4:15 p.m. match against Mount St. Mary's in Waynesboro, Pa.
 
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach Rob Castille, is 5-10 overall and 3-1 in NEC play after splitting two matches last weekend.  Saint Francis earned a 4-3 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday, but fell 4-3 at Wagner on Sunday.
 
Senior Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)) won NEC Player of the Week with two singles wins at No. 2 and combining with junior Jan Vit Suntar (Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Slovenia/Gimnazija Kranj) for a doubles win.  Sebastian Pinos (Quito, Ecuador/Compuinformatica) was selected NEC Rookie of the Week after collecting two wins at No. 4 and pairing with sophomore Franz Luna (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Laurel Springs) for a win at No. 3 doubles.
 
Against FDU, the Red Flash collected singles wins at the top four positions.  Luna (No. 1), Foo-Kune (No. 2), Charles Morkel (Cape Town, South Africa/Paul Roos Gymnasium) (No. 3) and Pinos (No. 4) all earned wins. 
 
In the match at Wagner, SFU won the doubles points, with victories at No. 1 (Foo-Kune and Suntar) and No. 3 (Luna and Pinos).  Foo-Kune and Pinos picked up singles wins.
 
Foo-Kune leads the team with nine wins this Spring, all coming at No. 2, while Luna has eight victories at No. 1.  Pinos owns seven wins, with three wins at No. 4.  Morkel and sophomore Eduardo Garcia (Toluca, Mexico/Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Mexico) each have three wins, while Suntar has one.  In doubles, Luna and Pinos are 8-7, with a 1-1 mark at No. 3. 
 
George Washington is 2-16 this season and 1-2 in Atlantic 10 play.  The Colonials' wins have come against Bethune Cookman (5-2) and Saint Joseph's (5-2).  Chris Reynolds has three wins this Spring, with two at No. 1.  Christos Hadjigeorgiou leads the team with seven dual match wins, including five at No. 2.  Chris Fletcher and Hadjigeorgiou are 5-3 at No. 2 doubles.
 
Mount St. Mary's owns a 5-9 record, including a 2-1 record in the NEC.  The Mountaineers have wins over Howard (7-0), Davenport (4-3), Rose-Hulman (5-2), Sacred Heart (4-3) and St. Francis Brooklyn (4-3).  Mount plays Loyola (Md.) on Friday before taking on SFU on Saturday.  Parth Sharma leads the team with an 11-2 record this Spring, playing all of his matches at No. 3.  Jackson Wood and Brandon Wortkotter is 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.
