Loretto, Pa –
The Saint Francis lacrosse team (4-6) opens conference play at Mount St. Mary's on Friday, Apr. 6, before returning to Loretto to host Wagner on Sunday, Apr. 8, at 1 p.m.

Scouting Mount St. Mary's

The Red Flash open conference play against Mount St. Mary's, who are 5-4 this season, winning two of their last three games. The Mountaineers are averaging 11 goals a game and are holding opponents to 8.56 goals per contest. Sophomore Carly Miller leads the team in scoring with 17 goals and 28 points. On the defensive end, Junior goalkeeper Jillian Petito is the reigning defensive player of the week. Petito leads the NEC this season with a .554 save percentage and 10.9 saves per contest. The Mountaineers have won all 15 meetings vs. the Red Flash, the last one a 12-9 victory last season.

Scouting Wagner

Wagner enters the week 5-4, winning four of their past six games. Senior Lauren Ednie, the NEC's most current Player of the Week, leads the Seahawks with 25 goals and 26 points. Junior Anna Belle Reilly tops the team with 13 assists to go along with nine goals. Rookie of the week, Erin Kerstetter, is having a solid season both offensively and defensively. Kerstetter has 16 goals to go along with her 15 ground balls and 22 draw controls. Saint Francis defeated Wagner 10-9 for the first time in school history in their 2017 match-up.

NEC Leaders

Despite their recent struggles, the Red Flash still rank atop the NEC in many statistical categories. The Red Flash lead the NEC in ground balls per game (24.60) and draw controls per game (14.00). Saint Francis is second in the NEC in goals per game (11.70) only behind Bryant (15.00). They are also second in caused turnovers per game (10.90), so the Red Flash are still playing good lacrosse even though they are currently on a three-game losing streak.

Chasing History

If the Red Flash can sweep Mount St. Mary's and Wagner this weekend it will be the first time in program history that the Red Flash open conference play 2-0. A sweep this weekend would also tie a program record for most wins in a season. The record six wins has occurred two times, once in 2010 and again in 2017.
