LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Women's Tennis team continues NEC play this weekend. The Red Flash meets Mount St. Mary's on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. match in Waynesboro, Pa.
Saint Francis, led by Head Coach
Rob Castille, is 3-10 overall and 2-1 in NEC play after falling 3-2 at Fairleigh Dickinson last Saturday.
Freshman
Nastasia Tamarkin (Washington, D.C./School Without Walls) was named NEC Rookie of the Week after claiming a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 over FDU's Liza Rachenko. Sophomore
Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) added a singles win at No. 2 with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory.
The Red Flash split the doubles matches. Junior
Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) and sophomore
Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) picked up a 6-4 win at No. 2.
Tamarkin leads the Red Flash with an 8-4 record this Spring, including a 3-1 mark at No. 4. Junior
Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) is 7-5 in dual matches, including a 2-2 record at No. 5. Bode has five wins at No. 3, while Gutierrez has four victories at No. 2 and Seigford has three wins at No. 1.
In doubles, Gutierrez and Tamarkin are 6-6 at the top doubles position. Bode and Seigford own a 4-2 record at No. 2.
Mount St. Mary's is 3-11 this Spring, with a 1-2 record in NEC play. Last week, the Mount split two NEC matches. Mount defeated St. Francis Brooklyn, 6-1, but fell 4-3 at Wagner. Alexa Quintanilla has three wins at No. 1 singles, while Hannah Davis has three victories at No. 2. In doubles, Davis and Quintanilla are 7-7 at No. 1.
