BOX SCORE Emmitsburg, Md – The Saint Francis lacrosse team (4-7, 0-1) could not overcome their first half deficit on Friday, falling to Mount St. Mary's 10-3.
Turning Point
The Red Flash had to fight un uphill battle all afternoon after allowing the Mountaineers to score five unanswered goals early in the first half. Jessica Mazzur (Dallastown, Pa./York Catholic) tied the game, for Saint Francis, at two goals each at the 16:03 mark of the first half. The 5-0 run put on by Mount St. Mary's came shortly after Mazzur's goal and that run allowed the Mountaineers to take a 7-2 lead into halftime. After Mount St. Mary's opened the scoring in the second half, the Red Flash were able to make it a 8-3 deficit with 12:19 remaining after a Sarah Mahon (Malverne, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) goal. However, Saint Francis could not cut into the lead any further and was outscored the rest of the way.
