Loretto, Pa.- Your Saint Francis cross country teams raced into first place victories at the Immergrun Golf Course in the Father Bede Invitational amidst tumultuous weather conditions. The men's team finished with 17 points and the women's squad earned 16 points narrowly missing out on a clean sweep.

The men raced first on the extremely challenging 6.63 km (4.12 mile) course at the Immergrun Golf Club.

Sophomore
Ian Gabig (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) captured his first collegiate victory. His winning time of 22:54.7 was a minute and a half faster than he ran on this same course in his collegiate debut last year. It also broke the course record established last year by teammate
Mike Strosko (Eighty-Four, Pa./Canon-McMillan) by 36 seconds.

In his collegiate debut, freshman
Brenden Miller (Millersburg, Pa./Upper Dauphin) battled Gabig throughout the race and eventually finished in second place, just a second behind Gabig in 22:56.0.

Closing hard, senior
Jeremie Venne (Ottawa, Ontario/Franco-Cite) took third overall with a time of 23:17.3, locking up a sweep of the top three spots for the Red Flash.

Junior
Griffin Molino (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) took fifth overall in 23:29.5, and was followed closely by senior
Zack White (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny) in sixth with a time of 23:31.3. Those two wrapped up the SFU scorers.

Jonathon Allard (Keene, N.H./Keene) made his collegiate debut in seventh place with a time of 23:42.6 and sophomore Cole Sunderland rounded out SFU's top seven by taking ninth place with a time of 24:01.7.

Following the men's race and a ninety-minute weather delay, the women took to the challenging 5 km (3.11 mile) course, which was made all the more challenging as a result of the hard rain that had arrived between the races.

Senior
Hannah Dorian (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) shot to the front from the gun to capture her first collegiate cross country victory with a time of 19:44.9, forging an impressive 43 second victory.

Sophomore
Madison Wright (Eaton, Ohio/Twin Valley South), who won this meet last year, took second with a strong time of 20:28.2.

Fellow sophomore
Hannah Jones (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) took third with a time of 20:36.6.

Junior
Catie Jaskowak (Grove City, Pa./Grove City Area) took fourth, with an impressive personal best time (for this course) of 20:45.7.

In her collegiate debut, freshman
Shannon Cody (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) took sixth place with a time of 21:11.8 as the final scorer for SFU.

Right behind her were the final two women of Saint Francis' top seven. Senior
Hannah Weber (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) and senior
Angela Barber (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro) took seventh and eighth with times of 21:14.0 and 21:16.4, respectively.

Up next for the Red Flash is the James Madison University Invitational next Saturday, September 8. The meet will be held at the New Market Battlefield in New Market, Virginia. The men's 7,900m (4.91 mile) race gets underway at 10:00 AM and the women's 5,200m (3.23 mile) race starts at 10:45 AM.
