Saint Francis set to take on Saint Louis and Kent State

Loretto, Pa – The Red Flash field hockey team (3-5, 1-0) will travel to Missouri to take on conference foe Saint Louis on Friday, then to Ohio to take on Kent State in a non conference match up.

Scouting Saint Louis

Saint Louis is 2-5 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. The Billikens previous outing was a 1-0 defeat in conference play to Richmond. They are led by third year head coach Danielle Baumgardner. Offensively, the Billikens are led by freshman Emily Wastell, the team leader in goals (3) and points (5). Senior Carly Kissinger is another offensive threat for the Billikens leading the team in shots (16) and assists (5). Freshman goalkeeper Sasha Sander has made 29 saves on the season posting a .688 save percentage. As a team, SLU averages 1.17 goals per game, but allow an average of 2.33 goals per game. Saint Francis will be tested by the freshman goalkeeper as they enter the game averaging 2.13 per game. Saint Francis is 5-0 all time against Saint Louis. Most recently, the two teams met in 2017, resulting in a 2-0 Red Flash victory.

Scouting Kent State

Kent State is 2-7 on the season and have yet to play a conference game. Their last game was a tight 2-1 loss against Stanford University. Kathleen Wiler has been the head coach for thirteen seasons at Kent State. On offense, Kent State has three players with two goals or more on the season and 11 players who have earned at least one point. Sophomore Clara Rodriguez Seto leads the offense in scoring with five goals, three assists, and 13 points. Laila Richter and Jessica Apelt have two goals apiece for the Golden Flashes on the season. Junior goalkeeper Mary Crumlish has made 37 saves this season posting a 2.36 goals allowed average and a .638 save percentage. The Red Flash are 1-2 all time against the Golden Flashes with the last meeting occurring in 2017. In that meeting, Kent State defeated Saint Francis 1-0.
