Field Hockey finalizes class of seven

Loretto, Pa – The Saint Francis field hockey team closed out the 2019 signing period on Monday by adding seven new members to its squad.
 
The 2019 signing class consists of Riley Kromer, Caileen Quinn, Bailey McDougall, Amber Bryan, Greta Schratz, Carysse Norris, and McCammon (Cammie) Mottley. 
 
In total, head coach Betta Ceretta brings in three players from Pennsylvania, one from Maryland, one from Massachusetts and one from New York. 

The Class is comprised of two goalkeepers and five position players.


MF | Riley Kromer (Lancaster, N.Y. / Sweet Home H.S.)
 
Kromer attended Sweet Home High School in New York, where she received All-State and First Team All-WNY honors and was named to the ECIC All-Stars First Team in 2018.. The five-year letter winner served as a team captain her junior and senior seasons and finished her career with 34 goals and 41 assists.. She played club field hockey for the WNY Whalers who won the Junior Premier Outdoor League Championship in 2017.
 
Ceretta on Kromer: "We are excited to welcome Riley to our Red Flash Family. She has a hard-working attitude and is a skillful player. Her work ethic and her eagerness to improve will be a great asset for our team. We anticipate her being an impactful addition to our program."
 

B | Caileen Quinn (Walpole, Mass. / Walpole H.S.)
 
Quinn, a team captain as a senior, helped lead Walpole High School to a 20-2 overall record winning a slew of awards. She participated in the Bay State League All-Star game as well as the Under Armour Select Game and was voted among the top-60 seniors in the area. Her club team, Allegiance, was the Shooting Stars Regional Club Champions, Limelight Runner-Ups, and Winter Escape Pool Winners.
 
Ceretta on Quinn: "We are thrilled to welcome Caileen to our Red Flash family. Her love and commitment to field hockey is shown through her play. Field hockey has been a part of Caileen's life since she was young and we are happy to have her continue to grow her passion for the sport at Saint Francis." 
  

GK | Bailey McDougall (Harrisburg, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt H.S.)
 
McDougall was selected to the First Team Mid-Penn Capital All-Star Team from Bishop McDevitt High School her senior season. This year, she recorded seven shutouts on 87 saves and an 82.9% save percentage. She played club for the Alley Cats who finished in first in the State according to the USAFH Club Rankings. The Alley Cats also earned Bronze in the 2018 Disney Showcase Tournament.
 
Ceretta on McDougall: "Bailey will be a great addition to our goalkeeping unit. She has quick reactions in the circle and reads plays well. We are excited to have Bailey on our team because she will encourage and push her teammates to be the best."
 

GK | Amber Bryan (Downington, Pa. / Bishop Shanahan H.S.)
 
Bryan attended Bishop Shanahan High School in Pennsylvania, where she was a four-year letter winner and was a First-team Ches-Mont All-Star. During her senior season, she was voted the team's Most Valuable Defender, tallying 143 saves and posting an 86.1% save percentage. She played club hockey for the WC Eagles who qualified for the NIT in each of her four seasons with the team.
 
Ceretta on Bryan: "We are pleased to welcome Amber to our Red Flash family. Amber will be another great addition to our goalkeeping unit with her aggressiveness and quickness in the cage. Although she is quiet, she can be a force to be reckon with in the net and will help challenge our field players."
 

MF | Greta Schratz  (McMurray, Pa. / Peters Township)
 
Schratz was a four-year letter winner at Peters Township High School in Pennsylvania and a team captain. She was named an All-Section in 2017 and 2018 and was an All-WPIAL selection at the conclusion of the 2018 season. She played her club hockey for Pittsburgh Venom. Her sister Samara will be a junior for the Red Flash next season.
 
Ceretta on Schratz: "Greta comes from a wonderful family and we are delighted to have another Schratz sibling join our field hockey program. Greta's strong communication and attacking threat in the circle will help impact our program. We are excited to welcome Greta to our team."
 

F/M  | Carysse Norris (Narvon, Pa. / Garden Spot H.S.)
 
A two-time team captain at Garden Spot H.S., Norris recorded 12 goals and 11 assists over her four-year career including career-bests as a senior with seven goals and seven assists to help the Spartans achieve a 10-8-1 record. She was named L-L First Team League All-Star for her performance. Norris played club for Sutter's Brigade and most recently Nook Field Hockey Club.

Ceretta on Norris: "We are pleased to welcome Carysse to our Red Flash family. Carysse is a strong, dedicated individual who will be a positive influence amongst our team. Carysse has good vision on the field and is an intelligence player,which will be a great influence within our program. We anticipate Carysse being an impactful player on and off the field."
 

D/M | Cammie Mottley  (Pocomoke City, Md. / Pocomoke)
 
A four-sport athlete at Pocomoke High School, Mottley was a four-time All-Conference performer in field hockey. Mottley, a team captain as a senior, earned All-Bayside First Team honors tallying eight goals and eight assists.  She was part of the team that won the State Championship in 2015 and Bayside Championships in 2015 and 2017.
 
Ceretta on Mottley: "We are thrilled to welcome Cammie to our Red Flash family. Cammie has a positive attitude and great dedication, which supplements the values of our team. We are thrilled for Cammie to grow her passion athletically and academically at Saint Francis."
