SFU hosts FDU in NEC action Sunday

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis men's soccer (4-4-0, 1-1-0 NEC) has its home conference opener against Fairleigh Dickinson (4-3-1, 0-0-1 NEC) on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m.

Scouting Fairleigh Dickinson
The Knights are coming off a 2-1 defeat at Iona on Wednesday. FDU previously fought to a scoreless tie in its NEC opener against Robert Morris this past Sunday. Junior forward Diego Arribas leads the Knights with eight points on three goals and two assists this season. Junior goalkeeper Jahmali Waite is tied for the NEC lead with 35 saves this season and sits atop the league with a 1.04 goals-against average and a .814 save percentage among NEC goalkeepers to have played at least 400 minutes.

Series History
Saint Francis is 7-20-5 in the all-time series against Fairleigh Dickinson. The teams fought to a scoreless tie last season on Oct. 12, 2018 in Teaneck, N.J.

Castro's two goal propel Red Flash past Terriers
Gabriel Castro (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Lausanne Collegiate School) scored two goals, including the game-winner in the final five minutes to lift SFU to a 2-1 win over St. Francis Brooklyn this past Sunday. Castro scored from short range off a Juan Gomez (Marbella, Spain) assist to give SFU a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute. After a Terriers equalizer in the 46^th minute, the Red Flash fought back to take the lead as Castro knocked in what ended up being the decider in the 85^th minute off Brandon Ott's (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts) free kick from the right corner side.

SFU offense leads NEC in statistical categories
Saint Francis leads the NEC in all of the major offensive categories, including shots, points, goals and assists. The Red Flash are tied with Robert Morris at the top with 105 shots. SFU ranks first with 42 points on a league-best 14 goals and 14 assists.
