Bethlehem, PA- The Saint Francis University cross country teams competed at the Paul Short Run on Saturday, October 5th in Bethlehem, PA. The men's and women's teams both came to show what they're made of with 22 new PR's, and five new top-ten SFU all time standings.
Men's Overview- The men's team finished 10
th in the Brown race. Twelve of the SFU men ran new 8 km personal best times. The top three SFU finishers each produced times that rank them among the top ten fastest all-time for SFU at the 8 km cross country distance.
Junior
Colin Kelly (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) led the men with his 25
th place finish in a time of 25:08.9, which moved him into 6
th on the SFU all-time PR list. His time was a 1:06 improvement on his previous best time. Close behind was Junior
Ian Gabig (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) took 27
th with a time of 25:09.5, which moved him into the 7
th all-time for SFU. That time was a 35 second improvement on his previous best time.
Finally, sophomore
Brenden Miller (Millersburg, Pa./Upper Dauphin) took 30
th with a time of 25:11.0, moving him into 8
th on the all-time SFU list for 8 km cross country. He as well improved his personal best by 8 seconds.
The largest PR's of the day came from freshman
Tyler Napora (Somerset, Pa./Windber Area) (a 2:20 improvement to 27:47.2), freshman Zack Kohler (a 2:07 improvement to 26:24.1), freshman Matt Berzonsky (a 1:49 improvement to 28:10.3), sophomore
Jonathan Allard (Keene, N.H./Keene) (a 1:11 improvement to 26:39.9), and freshman
Ethan Knoebel (Northumberland, Pa. /Southern Columbia Area) (a 1:07 improvement to 26:08.9).
Four other SFU men improved their 8 km personal bests: junior
Ian Lauver (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) (a 0:35 improvement to 26:16.2), junior
Glenn McGee (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon McMillian) (a 0:27 improvement to 26:44.6), sophomore
Michael Gallagher (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) (a 14 second improvement to 27:59.5), and junior Cole Sunderland (a 4 second improvement to 26:55.9).
Women's Overview- The women's team finished 23
rd in the Brown race, with ten of the SFU women running new 6 km personal best times. The top two SFU finishers each ran times that rank them among the ten fastest all-time for SFU at the 6 km cross country distance.
Senior
Laura Roth (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) improved her personal best by 1:03 with her 46
th place time of 22:05.1. That time ranks her 8
th all-time for SFU at this distance.
Junior
Madison Wright (Eaton, Ohio/Twin Valley South) improved her personal best by 20 seconds with her 50
th place time of 22:09.1, which ranks her 10
th all-time for SFU at the 6 km distance.
Sophomore
Mandy McElheny (Homer City, Pa./Homer-Center) improved her personal best by a whopping 1:49 with her time of 24:32.5 for 199
th in the Open Race.
Three other SFU women improved their 6 km personal bests: freshman
