Bronx, New York- The Saint Francis University men and women cross country team's bring 11th and 10th place finishes back to Loretto from the ECAC/IC4A Championships Saturday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park.
Women's Overview- The women take an overall 10th place finish out of 18 competitive teams on Saturday afternoon.
In the fist race of the day, a group of women competed in the coaches race where freshman
Emma Gentile (Evans City, Pa./Mars Area) placed 22nd place out of 40 runners with a time of 22:19 to lead the Red Flash. After her was junior
Ashley Lafferty (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) in 28th place in a time of 22:08.
Later in the day was the women's championship race where senior
Catie Jaskowak (Grove City, Pa./Grove City Area) lead her Red Flash with a 41st place out of 146 runners in a time of 19:15. The next SFU runner to cross the finish line was junior
Madison Wright (Eaton, Ohio/Twin Valley South) in 56th place with a time of 19:31. And to round out the top three Red Flash runners was sophomore
Shannon Cody (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) who placed 62nd in a time of 19:39.
The women look at concluding their season on a high note where they finished one place better overall than they did last year.
Men's Overview- The men started off the day with the coaches race followed by the championship race later on in the day and after scoring issues take an overall 11th place finish out of 16 teams.
The coaches race was the first race for the men, where junior
Jonathan Allard (Keene, N.H./Keene) took an overall 6th place finish out of 60 runners with a time of 27:09.0 to lead the Red Flash. Freshman
Matthew Berzonsky (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) was the next Saint Francis runner to cross the finish line in 33rd place out of 60 with a time of 28:12.3. He was followed by freshman
Tyler Napora (Somerset, Pa./Windber Area) in 37th place in a time of 28:25.3.
Junior
Colin Kelly (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) lead the Red Flash in the championships race placing 46 out of 144 runners in a time of 26:23.3. The next Red Flash to cross the finish line was sophomore
Brenden Miller (Millersburg, Pa./Upper Dauphin) placing 50th in a time of 26:26.3. Rounding out the top three runners for Saint Francis was senior
Griffin Molino (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) placing in 64th with a time of 26:46.1.
This will conclude the 2019 season for the Saint Francis Red Flash cross country team, they will be back in action in 2020. Results for this race can be seen at the link below.
