Red Flash set to take on the Highlanders

Loretto, Pa – The Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team opens its season on Saturday, Feb. 16, when it travels to Virginia to take on Radford at 12 p.m.
 
Scouting Radford
 
Radford went 6-11 overall and 3-4 in Big South conference play last season. The Highlanders tallied 205 goals, led by 55 from senior preseason All-Big South midfielder Callie Bonnel. Preseason All-Big South attacker Adrian Rius is coming off a 50-point season of 45 goals and five assists. Emma Rogers led the team with 19 assists. Shea Swingle looks to make her presence felt on the defensive end. Swingle led Radford with 40 ground balls collected. She also led the team with 26 caused turnovers.
 
 
Climbing the Record Book
 
Sophomore Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) had a monster freshman season earning NEC All-Rookie team honors for tallying 37 points on 32 goals and five assists. Scott led the NEC and ranked sixth in the NCAA in draw controls per game at 7.82. Her 133 draw controls on the season boosted her to second all-time for career draw controls at Saint Francis.
 
Veteran Group
 
The Red Flash returns a veteran squad consisting of 13 players who appeared in at least 10 games or more last season. Among the 13 returners are SFU's top two defenders. First Team All-NEC member Peyton LeConte (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) led the Red Flash with 28 caused turnovers and was second on the team with 47 ground balls collected. Eilis Hagan (Damascus, Md./Damascus) followed suit causing 25 turnovers and collecting 37 ground balls.
 
Conference Rankings
 
Last season, Saint Francis ranked first in the NEC in draw controls per game averaging 14.59 and third in goals per game (11.41). Defensively, the Red Flash was third in ground balls (22.41) and fourth in caused turnovers per game (9.29).
