Saint Francis travels to Pittsburgh for match with Duquesne

Loretto, Pa – The Saint Francis lacrosse team (0-2) will travel to Duquesne to take on the Dukes on Wednesday, Feb 27 at 3 p.m. The Red Flash will try to pick up its first win of the season and first ever win over Duquesne in program history.

Scouting Duquesne

The Dukes are 2-0 with wins over Longwood and Butler. Last season, Duquesne went 4-12 overall and 2-7 in the A-10, including a 18-15 win over Saint Francis. On that day, the Red Flash found themselves playing catch-up, as the Dukes tallied the first three goals of the game. Saint Francis battled back to tie the game and then the two teams traded punches from there on. SFU found its comeback fall short after trailing 18-12 with 6:00 left to play and rattling off the game's final three goals. Megan Buettner paces Duquesne this season with eight goals and an assist. Michaela Connolly, Kirsten Barnes, and Maddie Hart have each added five goals for the Dukes. Defensively, Sydney Reed has caused seven turnovers and gathered six ground balls. Goalkeeper Maddy Curtis has allowed 17 goals and posted a 8.50 goals against average so far this season.

Day keeps it going

Morgan Day (New Park, Pa./Kennard Dale) looks to score in her third straight game of the season at Duquesne. The senior opened her season with a seven-goal performance at Radford and followed it up by tallying a goal against Lehigh. She continues to lead the Red Flash in scoring with eight points on eight goals.

Baker heating up

Livia Baker (Fallston, Md./Fallston High School) tallied two goals and an assist last game at Lehigh. The junior midfielder is second on the team with three points and looks to keep it going against the Dukes.

Balanced Group

Eight different Red Flash players have tallied at least one goal in the team's first two games, while three players have two or more. Defensively, eleven players have caused a turnover with six players causing two or more.
