Red Flash Host Longwood in Home Opener

Loretto, Pa –The Saint Francis women's lacrosse team (1-4) looks to keep the momentum going against Longwood after picking up its first win of the season at Wofford last Thursday. The Red Flash played well on both ends of the field scoring its season high in goals (18) while allowing its fewest number of goals (8) in the win. Wednesday's March 13 match against Longwood will be the first of a four-game homestand for the Red Flash. 
 
Scouting Longwood
 
The Lancers enter Wednesday's match 2-4 overall, losing its most recent match with William & Mary. Kaitlin Luccarelli paces the Longwood offense with 25 points on 17 goals and eight assists. Dana Joss and Emma Johnson are also double-figure goal scorers tallying 13 and 10 goals respectively. Defensively, Corri Calandra leads the team with 12 caused turnovers and has added 18 groundballs. Goalkeeper Danielle Burke has made 49 saves and has posted a .426 save percentage. Last season, the Lancers defeated the Red Flash 12-10 in a game that Saint Francis saw its late second-half comeback fall short. 
 
Scott was Spectacular
 
Sophomore Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) tallied five goals, won nine draw controls and helped lead Saint Francis to its first win of the season the last match against Wofford. Against Wofford, the sophomore scored her first hat-trick of the season and matched her career-high in goals (5), which she did last season against Robert Morris.  This season, Scott has won 33 draw controls for the Red Flash good enough for 16th most in Division I. 
 
Balanced Attack

Last game, eight different players tallied at least one goal for the Red Flash. Of those eight players, five of them scored two or more, while the two leaders combined for nine. Senior Morgan Day (New Park, Pa./Kennard Dale) continues to lead the Red Flash offense with 12 goals, while junior Livia Baker (Fallston, Md./Fallston High School) continues her scoring streak and is second on the team in goals with nine. 
 
Defense Stepping Up
 
The Saint Francis defense allowed its season low in goals last game at Wofford. The Red Flash held the Terriers to 15 shots on goal and caused 17 turnovers. Peyton LeConte (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) anchors the SFU defense as the team leader in caused turnovers per game. She has caused 11 total and has collected eight groundballs. Katie Page (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) and C.C. Courter (Verona, N.J./Verona) have been huge defensively for the Red Flash as well. The two have combined to cause 15 turnovers and collect 18 groundballs. Ashley Stoessel (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) looks to keep it going against the Lancers as she is coming off her best game of the season where she posted a season-high .467 save percentage.
