Last Time Out
Two weeks ago, Ball State held Saint Francis to a .000 hitting percentage in a straight set victory. Matt Szews and Ben Chinnici led the Cardinals in kills with 17 combined kills. Michael Fisher (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley (Pepperdine)) commanded the Red Flash offensively and defensively with nine kills and seven digs. The next night, the Red Flash displayed an efficient effort against the 13th ranked Mastodon's of Purdue Fort Wayne, taking the match to a fifth deciding set after losing two back-to-back sets. Fisher lead the match with 21 kills on a .275 hitting clip as Cole Thompson (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos) followed with 14 kills and a match-high four aces.

Scouting the Nittany Lions
The Nittany Lions have had SFU's number as of late, winning four straight matches since the stellar 16 kill performance from Fisher at DeGol Arena back in 2017. Penn State is a well-balanced team who sits in the middle of the pack in all 13 statistical categories in the conference. Redshirt junior Henrik Falck Lauten leads Penn State and ranks sixth in the EIVA in kills (191). Matthew McLaren is next in kills at 162. Redshirt freshman Will Bantle directs the defense holding a conference best 136 digs while middle blocker Jesse Donorovich leads the team with 64 total blocks.

Series History
Penn State has a commanding led in the all-time series, 3-44 after its 3-1 win over the Red Flash in early January.

Consistency is Key
Saint Francis hasn't been able to build consist momentum this season winning four straight matches then dropping the next four. As head coach Mike Rumbaugh continues to find the 'perfect' rotation moving forward, consistency will be key in its push to the playoffs. Over the last few years, Red Flash have displayed an above .500 record following the second round of non-conference games, which is a good sign heading into the final stretch of the schedule.
