LORETTO, Pa.- The accolades continue to pour in for the Red Flash softball team as the NFCA announced that outfielder Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) was named Second Team for the Great Lakes Region and twin sisters second baseman Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) and catcher Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) were tabbed Third Team.
Hayley Norton's (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) assault on enemy pitching commenced for a fourth straight season as the senior slugged complied a .372 average, 71 hits, 10 doubles, 16 home runs, and 65 RBI to lead SFU to a third straight NEC title and NCAA regional berth. During the 2019 season, Norton became the SFU and NEC all-time leader in home runs and RBI. She also currently leads Saint Francis in career hits with 242. Norton was a NFCA ROY finalist in 2016.Â
Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) handled the plate duties for Saint Francis and performed brilliantly in the role. The senior catcher hit .339 with 59 hits, 11 doubles, three triples, 14 home runs, and 59 RBI. Thanks to her dominant performance, McKee is t-second all-time in hits (236), fourth in runs scored (171), t-second in doubles (48), fourth in home runs (34), third in RBI (175), second in walks (119), and third in stolen bases (47).
Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) earned her second consecutive Third Team All-Region honor. The senior second baseman batted .317, scored 50 runs, collected 59 hits, hit 50 doubles, knocked in two triples, slammed 11 home runs, and drove in 44 RBI. McKee is now t-second with her sister in career hits (236), first in runs scored (209), fifth in doubles (38), third in triples (10), fifth in home runs (32), fifth in RBI (145), fifth in stolen bases (43), and four in assists (332).
The trio and the rest of the Red Flash battle #15 seed Michigan in the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional tomorrow at 4:30 pm. The game can be seen on ESPNU.
