Ganime signs professional contract in Germany with Wuppertaler SV

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis men's soccer alum Eric Ganime (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Colegio Icaro) has signed a professional contract to play with Wuppertaler SV in Germany.

The club plays in the German Regionalliga West and Ganime saw his first action this past Saturday against Bayer Leverkusen from Bundesliga 1. Bayer Leverkusen will play in the Champions League in 2019-20.

"This is a great opportunity for Eric," head coach Frank Olszewski said. "He has worked very hard to reach this level. We all are very proud of him and look forward to watching him progress in his professional career."

Ganime was an NEC Second Team All-Conference selection this past season at Saint Francis and started in all 17 games as a defender for the Red Flash. He helped SFU record six shutouts and had two goals and three assists on the season.

Prior to his time in the United States, the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native played four years for Clube de Regastas do Flamengo and two seasons at Fluminese in Brazil. Ganime also spent time with Duque de Caxias Futebol Clube and Bangu Atletico Clube.
