Loretto, Pa – The Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team (0-1) continue their non-conference run this Saturday Feb. 15 at 1p.m. when they host American University for the first time in program history.
Scouting American
The Eagles enter Saturday's match as an opening to their 2020 season. American returns two of their top three goal scorers from the 2019 season; Emma Vinall (51) and Kendall Goldblum (38). Goldblum is also impressive on the defensive end finishing as the team's second leader in caused turnovers (16) and ground balls collected (28) as well as winning 57 draw controls in 2019.
Double Scoring Trio
The Red Flash come off their first match of the season with multiple goal scorers. Juniors
Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and
Amanda Heidt (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) as well as sophomore
Autumn McHenry (Branford, Conn./Branford) all tallied two goals apiece. Sophomore
Maggie Luzier (Boonsboro, Maryland/Boonsboro) was joined by Scott in each logging one assist against the Highlanders.
Strong Defense
On the defensive the Red Flash kept strong my collecting 28 ground balls, eight caused turnovers, and 10 won draw controls. Sophomore
C.C. Courter (Verona, N.J./Verona) came out aggressive in the home opener by collecting five ground balls and junior Heidt resulted in three caused turnovers.
