Women's tennis topped by Toledo

Toledo, Ohio – Saint Francis women's tennis fell to Toledo 7-0 on Saturday at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club.

SFU's Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) was the only Red Flash player to take a set over the Rockets in a narrow 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 defeat to Eileen Carney at No. 2 singles. At No. 1, Toledo's Deedee Leenabanchong knocked off Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur), 6-0, 6-3. The Rockets' Patricia Panta won at No. 3 over Anouk Ma-Ajong (Paramaribo, Suriname/Sagemont), 6-2, 6-4.

In No. 4 singles, the Red Flash's Romina Cutipa (Huancayo, Peru/San Juan Bosco) fell to Sloane Teske, 6-3, 6-0. Toledo's Laura Morera topped Camryn Rossa (Charleston, SC/Oceanside Collegiate) at No. 5, 6-1, 6-4. SFU fell at No. 6 by default.

In No. 1 doubles, Leenabanchong and Carney defeated Gutierrez and Seigford, 6-0. Ma-Ajong and Cutipa dropped a 6-3 decision to Zina Mehikic and Teske at No. 2 doubles.

Saint Francis returns to action hosting Eastern Michigan for Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 29. First serve at the Ebensburg Tennis Center is set for 10 a.m.
