Loretto, Pa – The Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team open their season on Saturday, Feb. 8, when they host Radford at 1 p.m.
Scouting Radford
Radford went 3-11 in 2019, in its fourth season as a program. The Highlanders scored 174 goals, but return just one of their top three goal scorers from last season in Lindsey Carroll, who recorded 30. Preseason All-Big South defender Katie Bendrick looks to make her presence known on the defensive end. Bendrick led Radford with 40 ground balls, collected and 27 caused turnovers at 1.93 per game, which placed her at 23rd in the nation.
Goal Scoring Trio
The Red Flash scored 150 goals last season, and return their top three goal scorers in junior
Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard), redshirt senior
Morgan Day (New Park, Pa./Kennard Dale), and senior
Livia Baker (Fallston, Md./Fallston High School). The trio combined for a total of 97 goals, 16 assists, and 113 points during their 2019 run and should be equally dangerous in 2020.
Climbing the Record Book
Scott finished her 2019 season on a high-note, logging a season-high goals (44), which placed her eighth in the record books in career goals (76) and first in draw controls (229) with two full seasons remaining. Day isn't too far behind Scott in career goals. She currently sits tenth in career goals (67).
