Washington, DC – The Saint Francis women's lacrosse team (1-4) continue their March road trip to the nation's capital to take on the Howard University Bison (0-3) Friday, March 6 at 1 p.m.
Scouting Howard
The Bison attack is led by freshman Josie Mallory who has logged seven goals, one assist, and six collected ground balls thus far on the season. Leading the team defensively are junior Lailah Robey and freshman Quai Skeete-Ridley who have recorded eight won draw controls. Collectively the team is averaging just above seventeen shots per game (17.3), and capitalizes on a free position and woman-down situations. In three matches that have combined for 59 turnovers, which could play at an advantage for the Red Flash in Friday's contest.
Strong Attack
The Red Flash are coming together in making plays in the attack and finding the back of the net. Quick speed from the midfield have been key components in creating goal scoring opportunities. Junior
Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) has surely proving herself in the attack for the Red Flash with only five games into the season she has already logged 16 goals, 10 ground balls, and 39 draw controls. Scott is currently on pace to crack the top spot in career goals in the Saint Francis record book, and continue to shatter her current number one spot in career won draw controls. There are 11 other Red Flash teammates that have been able to find the back of the net this season, showcasing that they are not a one man show. Junior
Amanda Heidt (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) is right behind Scott in goals scored logging 10 already on the season. Sophomore
Autumn McHenry (Branford, Conn./Branford) has showcased her ability to make plays and pay off by leading the team in assists at six, followed by redshirt senior
Morgan Day (New Park, Pa./Kennard Dale) with five.
The Red Wall
The Saint Francis defense has proven their strengths so far this season. Sophomore goalkeepers
Elyssa Enrique (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) and
Lindsey Kilian (Woolwich, N.J./Kingsway Regional) have split time in the cage for the Red Flash and have combined for 66 saves and a .471 save percentage. The defensive line is led by senior
Peyton LeConte (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) who has 11 caused turnovers and 17 collected ground balls, insuring very little makes it into her third without getting roughed around first.
