Claudia Ortiz (Madrid, Spain), a member of the Saint Francis University field hockey team, has been named a Northeast Conference Prime Performer for the week of October 4-10. It is her first weekly conference recognition of her career.
Ortiz had a career afternoon in the 5-0 win against Bryant on Friday. The junior posted two goals and an assist for five points in the squad's first Northeast Conference win since 2012. Ortiz had a hand in three of the first four goals on the afternoon. After setting up
Olivia Muffitt (Newport, Pa.) with the first goal of the day in the second quarter, Ortiz scored unassisted twice to start the second half.
Ortiz ranks third on the team with three goals and three assists for nine points. The junior recorded a goal and an assist against Lock Haven on September 10 and then dished out an assist against Longwood 15 days later.
Saint Francis returns to action at DeGol Field against Sacred Heart on Friday. Match time is 3 p.m.
