The Saint Francis competed in their final race of the 2021 season in the ECAC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The women's 5k finished with Saint Francis finishing in 9th place out of 13 competing schools and were led by Mackenzie Walker (Indiana, Pa./Marion Center) (36th place, 19:25). The men's 8k race finished with the Flash in 11th place out of 13 competing schools and were led by Zachary Kohler (Warriors Mark, Pa./Tyrone Area) (32nd place, 26:28).
Following Walker in the women's 5k was Alyssa Deschler (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) (48th place, 19:45), Tesslyn Helms (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) (62nd place, 20:07), Taya Whitfield (Marion Center, Pa./Marion Center) (68th place, 20:16), and Monica Gregg (Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) (77th place, 20:29).
After Kohler crossed the finish line, the Flash rounded up their top 5 in the men's 8k with Matthew Berzonsky (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) (99th place, 28:40), Daniel Kelly (Spring Mills, Pa./ Penns Valley) (112th place, 29:28), Tyler Napora (Windber, Pa./Windber Area) (118th place, 29:54), and John Flynn Jr. (Ashland, Pa./North Schuylkill) (119th place, 30:01).
The Red Flash cross country team will begin competition again next fall.
