TUCSON, Ariz. – FC Tucson of USL League One announced the signing of Saint Francis men's soccer alumnus
Kaelon Fox ('18) as he enters the fifth year of his professional career.
"I am extremely excited to get started with FC Tucson, it is such an amazing organization with a historic past and a bright future," said Fox. "After speaking with coach Galas and hearing about how they conduct themselves as a professional club, it was a very easy decision where to play in 2021. Being in Iceland for the past 2 years I am looking forward to some Arizona sun and to also bring the organization some silverware."
Fox earned his master's degree from Saint Francis after spending four years at Kentucky. As a member of the Red Flash in 2017, Fox started in all 18 games, scoring three goals and adding an assist as Saint Francis finished 10-8 overall. Fox scored his first SFU goal on a penalty kick against VCU and then scored in the final two games of the season against Sacred Heart and Robert Morris. He had a three-point game against Sacred Heart as he also recorded an assist to contribute to both goals in the 2-0 shutout.
"Both Antony and myself are very excited for Kaelon and we will be keeping a close eye on his progression with FC Tucson," said Head Coach
Frank Olszewski. "They have got a very committed hard-working player. Kaelon is one of many players to come through our program and head into the professional ranks, and we hope to keep developing these players to be able to do that."
Fox began his professional career in USL League Two, playing for Reading United AC in 2017 and Mississippi Brilla FC in 2018. Both teams finished second in the division with Fox on the roster as he appeared in 13 games and played over 842 minutes as a defender and midfielder. In 2019, Fox moved to Iceland as he signed with Völsungur for a season. Last season, Fox helped Þór Akureyri of the Inkasso League to a fifth-place finish.
