LORETTO, Pa. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its 2020-21 Academic All-District list for Division I softball on Thursday.
Mekenzie Saban ('21) earned Academic All-District honors. She was previously named co-softball NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for her academic and athletic success.
Saban holds a perfect 4.0 GPA in her master's of business administration program. She was named Softball America All-American Third Team, NFCA All-Region Second Team, All-NEC First Team and NEC All-Tournament Team following the 2021 season.
During the season, Saban was twice named NEC Player of the Week, earned two NFCA Top Performer nods and was a five-time NEC Prime Performer. The Red Flash captured the NEC regular season championship and followed that with a 12-4 victory in five innings to win the NEC Tournament championship. Saban broke the single-season program records in batting average (.452) and on-base percentage (.508), while also ranking in the top five in doubles (20, second), hits (76, second) and stolen bases (19, tied fifth). At the conclusion of Saint Francis' season, Saban ranked in the top 50 in the nation in six offensive categories.
