LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University infielder Mekenzie Saban was named one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award, the organization announced on Thursday.
 
The Pittsburgh, Pa. native was named one of 30 candidates for the award on March 10 before the committee trimmed the list to 10 candidates on April 14. The award is eligible to NCAA Division I senior or graduate students who have notable achievements in community, classroom, character and competition.
 
Saban was the only Northeast Conference representative in the first list of 30 candidates and joins UMBC's Courtney Coppersmith, Marshall's Aly Harrell and Charlotte's Bailey Vannoy as the only four non-Power Five conference representatives on the final list of 10 candidates.
 
Nationwide fan voting begins immediately and can be found here on the Senior CLASS Award website through May 23. Fan votes will be combined with votes from the media and Division I head coaches to determine a winner.
 
The graduate student currently top-15 in the NCAA Division I with a .455 batting average and is top-30 with a .528 on-base percentage. She leads the NEC in both categories and with 30 runs scored and 14 doubles. She set a program record for career doubles earlier this season and currently sits at 59.
 
Saban graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in the Spring 2020 semester with a 3.988 GPA, which was Summa Cum Laude. She was on the President's List, composed of students with a 3.90 GPA or higher, in every semester of her undergraduate studies. She will graduate at the end of the Spring 2022 semester with a Master in Business Administration and has a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced in early June prior to the 2022 NCAA Women's College World Series.
