LORETTO, Pa. - Saint Francis University men's volleyball collected some major awards from the EIVA, the conference announced on Tuesday for the team's great work on and off the court in the 2022 season from the Red Flash.
Joshua Blair and
Thomas Leahey were both named All-EIVA Second Team.
Blake Liprando and
Nathan Zini each earned EIVA Honorable Mention. While the Red Flash had five players listed on the 2022 All-EIVA Academic Team in
Peyton Blain,
Joey Ferragonio,
Joshua Blair,
Matthew Menosky and
Blake Liprando.
Blair and Leahey each rank in the top-five for the EIVA with their hitting percentages. Blair with a .422 and Leahey with a .417. In addition, each have picked up one EIVA Player of the Week award a piece this season.
Blair finished the regular season with 163 kills, 301 total attacks, 16 serving aces and 44 digs to earn his third All-EIVA award of his career. Leahey finished the regular season with 160 kills, 22 serving aces over 290 total attacks for his second All-EIVA award of his career. In addition, Leahey leads the Red Flash with 68.0 blocks on the season.
Liprando and Zini both earned EIVA Honorable Mention for the 2022 season after each of their staggering performances. Liprando leads the Red Flash in three statistical categories with 271 kills, 136 digs and 35 serving aces. Zini earned his first EIVA Player of the Week award last week and has led the Red Flash in kills in the past six games for the Saint Francis men's volleyball squad.
Finally, five Red Flash players made the 2022 All-EIVA Academic Team in
Peyton Blain,
Joey Ferragonio,
Joshua Blair,
Matthew Menosky and
Blake Liprando. Blain sits on top for Saint Francis with a GPA of 3.982 and majoring in Accounting and Business Analytics.
The Red Flash will take on Princeton University in the First Round of the EIVA Tournament on Wednesday, April 20 at 7:00 p.m.
