Vesco Named Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week, Four Named Prime Performers

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University softball's Grace Vesco was named Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Lauren Aubry, Rachel Marsden and Ashley Wruble joined Vesco as NEC Prime Performers.

Vesco, a Uniontown, Ohio native, threw a no-hitter in a 9-0 win over Wagner. She struck out four batters and the only baserunner she allowed was a one-out hit batter in the fifth inning. She finished the weekend with no runs allowed in eight innings pitched and earned her first save of the season when she re-entered in the seventh inning of game three.

The no-hitter was Vesco's second of the season and fifth in her career. The Pitcher of the Week honor is her third of the season and seventh in her career, while the Prime Performer is the 12th of her career.

Aubry, a Marengo, Ill. native, led the team with a .625 batting average and scored two runs, hit one double and drove in five runs. She had a career-high four RBIs in a 9-0 game one victory over Wagner. She has six RBIs in her past nine at-bats after driving in no runs in her first 37 at-bats of the season. The Prime Performer selection is the first of Aubry's career.

Marsden, an Erie, Pa. native, hit .600 with five runs scored, one double, one home run and five RBIs in the series sweep over Wagner. She hit a solo home run that helped ignite a 12-0 Red Flash outburst in game two. On the mound, she pitched nine innings and had a 2.33 ERA with nine hits allowed, one walk and seven strikeouts. The Prime Performer selection is her sixth of the season and 12th in her career.

Wruble, a DuBois, Pa. native, went 5-for-9 with four runs scored, one double, one home run and five RBIs. She recorded five RBIs in the three-game series against Wagner after she recorded 14 through her first 38 games played. She hit her second-career home run to go back-to-back with Marsden in a 12-0 game two win. The Prime Performer selection is Wruble's first of her career.

Saint Francis returns to the field for its final-three regular season games at home against Sacred Heart May 7-8.
