Women's Soccer Opens Up NEC Play Against Wagner

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> The Red Flash begin Northeast Conference play when they host Wagner on Thursday afternoon.
>> Saint Francis is coming off of back to back wins against nonconference opponents Delaware and Niagara.
>> Rita Kendziora and Sarah McConnon garnered NEC attention as they won NEC Player and Defensive Player of the Week for their efforts the past two matches.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Flash were able to slow down the attack of the Purple Eagles and won their second game in a row, 1-0. Colletta Ozbey tallied the lone goal for Saint Francis during the 20th minute of the match as that's all the Red Flash needed to claim victory. Sarah McConnon pitched her second shutout in a row as she recorded six saves with a few of them being extraordinary efforts.

WORD ON WAGNER
Wagner comes into Thursday's match with the same record as the Red Flash at 2-6 through eight nonconference contests. The Seahawks have lost three matches in a row and were outscored in those contests 10-1. Wagner is led by senior forward Madison Carr who has three goals and six points to lead the Seahawks, she was also an All-NEC honoree last season. Sam Hughes leads the Seahawks in net as she has 36 saves on the year with 15 goals allowed.

LAST TIME WE MET
These two teams met at the end of last season when the Seahawks narrowly escaped with a 1-0 win at Wagner. The Red Flash own the all-time series with a 23-4 record since their first matchup in 1994.

UP NEXT
