NEWARK, NJ – Saint Francis University men's volleyball players,
AJ Schmidt and
Thomas Leahey both earned a spot on the First Point/Northeast Conference (NEC) Prime Performer list after their standout performances this week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Over just four sets this weekend, Schmidt recorded 37 assists, six digs and 3.0 blocks. In Saturday's two sets alone, Schmidt led the Red Flash in three statistical categories with 23 assists, three service aces and one block. As a setter, Schmidt averaged 9.25 assists per set on the week to lead Saint Francis to its first win of the season. Tuesday's NEC Prime Performer recognition is Schmidt's first of his career.

Leahey led the Red Flash defensively at NJIT this week. Over just three sets, Leahey put up 4.0 blocks for the Red Flash to average 1.33 blocks per set. Leahey continues to lead Saint Francis in blocks this season with 24.0 over eight games played. This is Leahey's third NEC Prime Performer recognition of the season.

The Red Flash will head to Teaneck, N.J. on Friday, Feb. 10 at 6:00 p.m. for the first ever Northeast Conference men's volleyball match at Fairleigh Dickinson before returning home to face former EIVA foe, No. 3 Penn State on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 7:00 p.m.
