BOX SCORE 2 STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Saint Francis University women's tennis moved to 2-0 in conference play with a 7-0 shutout win over Wagner, while men's tennis dropped to 1-1 with a 4-3 loss to the Seahawks.
Women's: Saint Francis 7, Wagner 0
Doubles
Saint Francis won all-three doubles matches to earn the point and the No. 3 match was by default.
Bente Vandeputte and
Dominique Yeo won the No. 1 match 7-5 and
Kelly Dowuona and
Valeria Vinces won the No. 2 match 6-1.
Singles
The Red Flash swept all-six singles matches, with two default wins, to earn its 7-0 sweep. Vandeputte won the No. 1 match 6-1, 7-5, Yeo won the No. 2 match 6-2, 6-4,
Marie Discini wont the No. 3 match 8-1 and
Nagisa Miyake won the No. 4 match 8-0.
Samantha Quezada and
Sydney Tamondong both earned the default wins.
Men's: Saint Francis 3, Wagner 4
Doubles
Wagner earned the double point with victories in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches.
Adam Kush and
Gregory Troyan fell in the No. 1 match 7-5, while
Zachary Palko and
Matt Kozar earned the only win 6-3 in the No. 3 match.
Singles
Both teams split the singles matches, which led to Wagner's one-set victory. Kush won the No. 1 match 6-1, 7-6 (10-5),
Jordi Garcia won the No. 3 match 6-4, 6-0 and Troyan won the No. 5 match 6-4, 7-5. All Wagner victories were also earned in straight sets.
