Avery Papalia (Marlton, N.J.) finished the first two rounds of the The Jewell hosted by Northern Kentucky in 35th place to lead the Saint Francis men's golf team after the first day of competition.
>> Papalia shot a five-over par round of 75 in the opening round and a one-over par round of 72 to post a 147 on the first day. He registered birdies on holes five, six and 12 along with eight pars in the first round and then carded birdies on one, three, five and 17 and added nine pars in the second round.
>> The Red Flash sits in 10th place with one round to go.

Webb had two birdies and 27 pars after the first day, while Minsky registered five birdies and 22 pars through 36 holes. Hoey carded six birdies and 17 pars on the afternoon and Godbout posted three birdies and 19 pars after one day.

Kyle McClintock (Venetia, Pa.) (60th place, 153) is participating in the event as an individual. The freshman had an eagle in the second round on No. 3, six birdies and 21 pars in the 36 holes.

Host Northern Kentucky leads the three-round, two-day event with a score of 564, five strokes ahead of Southern Indiana (569) while Robert Morris (571), Cleveland State (574) and Youngstown State (577) rounded out the Top-5 teams in the field. The Red Flash posted a 298 in the opening round and a 299 in the second round to sit in 10th place with a score of 597.
NEXT TIME ON THE GREEN
Saint Francis will be paired with Kentucky Wesleyan and Thomas More for the final round and will start on the 10th tee. Godbout hits the course first at 8:30 am and is followed by Hoey (8:40 a.m.), Minsky (8:50 a.m.), Webb (9 a.m.) and Papalia (9:10 a.m.) McClintock will tee off with other individuals at 9:40 a.m.
