Loretto, PA – The Red Flash Spirit Program Coaching Staff is growing in Head Coach John Anderson's third year at Saint Francis. The Red Flash Spirit Program is comprised of the Dance Team, Cheer Team and Mascot Team. Anderson recognizes that his expertise comes from a cheer background. He has worked with dancers and mascots for many years but searched for assistants who specialized in those areas.
Anderson brought in Sierra Kosmac, a dynamic choreographer from Cambria County whose education comes from Marymount Manhattan College in New York. Anderson believes that her passion for performance and creative ideas are sure to bring lots of open eyes to fans watching the sidelines during games.
Kendra Weakland was also added to the Spirit Group coaching staff. Weakland is a power tumbler with previous collegiate coaching experience from Illinois-Urbana Champaign. She also happens to be a part-time missionary through Saint Francis' FOCUS organization, making her the Team Chaplain.
Anderson added Kenna Harbaugh to the staff as well. Harbaugh, a Red Flash Cheer alum, is a multi-talented athlete with a background in Acro. Kenna is currently taking classes in the Saint Francis Nursing program. Anderson believes Harbaugh is a great fit for the program, and will not only relate to the established girls on the roster, but more importantly to demonstrate new skills to the team.
Grace Hoffman, another Red Flash Cheer alum, returns for another season as an Assistant Cheer Coach. Hoffman attended NCA Nationals twice with the Red Flash so she has the experience to guide this young team to another appearance in Florida.
The Red Flash Dance Team added a student assistant for this year, Alice Poffenberger. Poffenberger was a two-year captain during her four years in Loretto. Poffenberger was not able to participate this year due to lingering injuries, but is happy to help with many duties.
The Mascot Team of Frankie the Friars has grown and the Spirit Group are still looking for on-campus coaches. They have teamed up with Dave Raymond's (the original Phillie Phanatic) Mascot Bootcamp and the Altoona Curve Mascot Program in the past. Moving forward, the Spirit Group hope to work in some comedy improv workshops with the new Resinski Black Box Theatre.
Remember to look for members of the Red Flash Cheer, Dance and Mascot Teams on the sidelines of your Red Flash Athletics Teams and welcome the new coaches to Loretto.
