Eli Wilborn (Middletown, Conn.), a member of the Saint Francis men's basketball team, had three monster dunks in the Saint Francis 72-66 win against LIU on Friday. The freshman's poster dunk with 6:50 left in the first half was the No. 4 play on the Sports Center Top-10 Plays of the Day.
"Usually when you see this much smoke, you think we have a new pope," is a way the dunk was described on the broadcast.
That dunk was two of Wilborn's career-high 19 points on the night.
The Red Flash has appeared on Sports Center Top-10 before, most notably Keith Braxton's buzzer beater against Wagner in the NEC Quarterfinals in 2017, but this is believed to be the first non-buzzer beater to make the national nightly spotlight for the Loretto program.
Saint Francis travels to Le Moyne on Sunday. Game time is 2 p.m.
