Dasso-Meyers Tandem Pace Saint Francis Men's Golf After First Round Of Red Flash Invitational

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Fletcher Dasso and Trent Meyers finished the first round of the Red Flash Invitational with a three-over-par round to pace the Saint Francis men's golf team on Monday.
>> Dasso registered an even-par first nine holes with birdies on his first two holes of the day (10 and 11) and then had a birdie on hole five and a 38 on his final nine holes. Meyers, the local product from Altoona, Pa., started with a 38 on his first nine and then finished strong with a 35 on his back nine. Meyers had three birdies (12, three, 9) in the afternoon. Dasso had 10 pars to Meyers nine.
>> Saint Francis currently sits in sixth place.
>> It is the first time Saint Francis has hosted an event since 2014 and 2015 in the spring.
 
FLASH MOMENTS
Toby Webb (20th place, 74), Alex Yong (30th place, 76), and Hunter Jurica (35th place, 77) rounded out the "A" team's competitors. Webb posted a birdie on hole one and 12 pars. Yong carded birdies on eight, 15, and 17 with nine pars, and Jurica registered 10 pars in the opening round.

Lukas Cascino (41st place, 79), Ben Diskin (44th place, 80), Alexander McClain (49th place, 88), Joey Miller (50th place, 89), and Tanner Mona (51st place, 90) participated in the event as members of the "B" team. Miller and Mona had two birdies to lead the "B" team. Miller registered birdies on holes four and nine, while Mona had birdies on three and nine. Cascino led the "B" team with nine pars, while Diskin (eight pars), Miller (five pars), McClain (four pars), and Mona (three pars) also carded pars.

Cleveland State leads the two-day, two-round event with a score of 285. Youngstown State is second with a score of 287, while Mercyhurst (291), Bucknell (292), and Monmouth (295) round of the top five teams. The Red Flash "A" team is in sixth place with a 296, and the "B" team is ninth with a score of 336.

Sunnehanna County Club hosted the Sunnehanna Amateur for the 83rd time in June 2024 for men's golf. Players who have competed in the amateur have won 96 major championships, 20 times have been named PGA Player of the Year, and amassed 1,321 PGA victories. Some of the past participants in amateur include Jack Nicklaus, Fred Couples, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, and Scottie Scheffler.

Saint Francis wraps up its home invitational on Tuesday. Tee times begin at 9:30 a.m., and the men will tee off from the first hole in the final round.
