SOMERSET, N.J. – Saint Francis men's soccer had six players earn major end-of-year Northeast Conference (NEC) awards on Tuesday.
Joschi Schelb,
Tom Schellbach and
Fabian Wagner were named All-NEC First Team selections.
Maximus Rigby was named an All-NEC Second Team selection, and
Patrick Kierzkowski and
Jonah Wolf made the All-NEC Rookie Team.
The six Saint Francis All-Conference selections ties the most in a single season in program history, with the Red Flash earning six All-Conference selections back in 2019. It is the sixth time the program has had at least five players named All-Conference selections.
Schelb picked up right where he left off in 2024 after his impressive rookie campaign in 2023. Schelb currently has 26 points from nine goals and eight assists. He leads both Saint Francis and the NEC in all three categories.
The sophomore was arguably the NEC's best player this season, Schelb has points in his last five matches, and has just four games this season in which he has not contributed to a goal.
The Freiburg, Germany native is tied for fifth all-time in program history for points in a season. Schelb can move into a tie for fourth with three more points. He has 39 career points from 12 goals and 15 assists. Schelb now has earned All-Conference honors in back-to-back seasons.
Wagner also used 2024 to build upon his All-NEC Rookie Team campaign in 2023. Wagner has 18 points from seven goals and four assists this season.
The Grunsfeld, Germany native has had two separate three-game scoring streaks this season, scoring a goal in each of Saint Francis' three games from Sep. 4-14 and Oct. 13-27.
The sophomore set career highs in goals, assists and points this season, and has 10 goals, five assists and 25 points over the course of his career so far.
Schellbach's First-Team selection adds yet another accolade to a decorated career in Loretto. The nod marks the second consecutive season in which Schellbach has been named an All-NEC First Team selection and his third major conference award in two years.
The Freiburg, Germany native scored his first career goal on Nov. 7 at FDU and has a career-best four points this season. Schelb has five career points from a goal and three assists.
Schellbach's defensive skill set is one of the conference's best, making important tackles all season for the Red Flash. His All-Conference nod builds upon his NEC Defensive Player of the Year selection and All-ECAC First Team selections last season.
Rigby earns his second All-NEC award after making the All-NEC Rookie Team in 2021. Rigby has two points from two assists this season.
The senior has logged 24 career points from seven goals and 10 assists. Rigby has registered at least two assists in all four years of his career.
The York, England native has been a key cog in the Red Flash midfield over the last four years.
Kierzkowski improved as his rookie campaign went along, making his first appearance of the season on Sep. 14 against Canisius and playing in all but one match from that point on.
The Manalapan, N.J. native has scored a goal and tallied two assists for four points so far this season. Kierzkowski posted all of his points in matches against Stonehill and Howard, getting the Red Flash off to a hot start in conference play.
Kierzkowski's play earned him an NEC Rookie of the Week and Prime Performer honors on Oct. 14.
Wolf is also a young player who has grown throughout his rookie campaign. Wolf has one point this season from an assist, but that assist was a crucial one. The freshman assisted on the late equalizer against LIU on Oct. 6 to help the Red Flash steal a point on the road against the Sharks.
Wolf has started the last eight matches for the Red Flash this season.
The Red Flash and their six All-NEC selections will be back in action on Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. when they host LIU in the NEC Semifinal.
